Need a refresher? Top 10 summer drinks countdown #5 to #1

With the days growing longer and the temperature growing hotter, there’s no better way to celebrate summer than with some deliciously chilled drinks for a summer BBQ or picnic. Yesterday, I shared the bottom 5. If you missed that post, click here. Now I’ll share the top 5 from the list of 10 perfect non-alcoholic summer cocktails that you can enjoy at any outing with family or friends. These drinks were ranked based on ease to prepare and taste.

#5 - Strawberry Colada Smoothie

You can say summer without strawberries! Strawberry smoothies, to be exact. The secret ingredient in this treat is Greek yogurt.

This recipe requires a blender; mix 1 ripe banana, 1 cup of pineapple chunks, 1 cup of Greek yogurt (plain or coconut flavoured), 1 cup of fresh strawberries, and 1 cup of coconut milk. Blend on low pulse until well blended.

Substitute coconut milk for water if you prefer a less creamy version of this drink.

#4 - Glow Water

Combine 1 cup of sparkling water with 3 sprigs of mint, 2 slices of lemon, 1 mini cucumber sliced into rounds, 1 peach sliced, a dash of grated ginger, and give it a good shake. Chill and serve.

#3 - Simple Strawberry Granita Lemonade

Pour a cup of lemonade, add two spoons of syrup, ½ cup of fresh puree strawberries, and sweeten to your liking. Blend it and serve.

#2 - Mango-Strawberry Lemonade

Tropical fruit is my favourite summer treat, so grab a glass of lemonade and toss in some diced mango and thin slices of strawberry. Give it a good stir, add in a few ice cubes if you like, and you got yourself a refreshing summer treat.

#1 - Watermelon Lemonade

Why is this ranked #1?

Well, simply because it’s easier to make, and you don’t need to be a chef to master it. Get a watermelon, some watermelon juice (and if you’re adventurous, you can blend it yourself), and some lemonade. Pour the lemonade into ice cube trays and freeze it overnight. Next, grab a glass of watermelon juice, toss in some cubes of freshly sliced watermelon, and then a few lemonade flavoured ice cubes. And there you have it, watermelon lemonade in a glass.
