‘Grave of the Fireflies’ was a beautiful masterpiece that told the sad tale of the realities of war. There was no aspect of this film that doesn’t work beautifully. This was probably the most impactful film I’ve ever watched that was based on the war. It truly tugs at your heart strings and as you watch the film, you begin to feel deeply for the pain and suffering Seita and his sister Setsuko feel.
The thematic core of the story was survival and this was developed so well in the characters through their suffering and how they eventually passed. Although very sad, this is a film worth watching.
