Movie Review: Star Trek

Honestly, I never got into the whole Star Trek trend when it was popular back in the day. Many people I knew either loved Star Wars or Star Trek, but not both. I really liked R2-D2 and Chewbacca, so Star Wars was my thing. However, the past few years, we started introducing my son to popular pop culture icons and Star Trek obviously is one of them.

After watching Star Trek, it made me realize that you can be fans of both. They are unique in their own way, but Star Wars focuses more on hope and your destiny while Star Trek focuses more on individuality and morals. What I really liked watching was the relationship between Mr. Spock and Captain Kirk. What first started out as jealousy turned to competition and eventually friendship where they realized they needed each other to succeed in their missions. The spontaneous Captain Kirk paired with emotionless Mr. Spock was interesting to watch, and discovering what creative plans they will come up with to get out of trouble.

I’m tempted to watch the original series to see what the hype was all about.

Live long and prosper.
