Book Review: Fault in Our Stars

I’m a huge John Green fan and it was this book, ‘The Fault in our Stars‘ that turned me into a fan. This book was so beautifully written and it had all the perfect romantic tropes.

The story is about two teenage cancer patients, Hazel and Augusta, begin a life-affirming journey to visit a reclusive author in Amsterdam. I thought the love-story between the two was very cute and it was interesting having the story in Hazel’s perspective so readers can understand the struggles of a cancer patient. I enjoyed reading the letters and Hazel’s character being slightly pessimistic really put the whole story together.

Although the story was about two cancer patients, it did not focus much on the cancer treatments. It was a true romantic young adult novel that touched upon cancer without diving too deep into the topic. Despite this, ‘The Fault in Our Stars‘ inspired me to write the book that went deeper. An excellent young adult book to read and would definitely recommend John Green’s work to anyone who loves a good romance.
