Exactly a year ago on August 5th, 8-year-old Zoe had a nosebleed that wouldn’t stop. Further bloodwork revealed that she had a severe case of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. It was so severe that 99% of her blood cells were now cancer cells.
Given the severity of her blood counts, Zoe received nearly constant transfusions, but progressed very well with treatment. Eventually, she was discharged and now returns to the hospital for transfusions 1-2 times a week. Despite her condition, Zoe keeps her spirits up, continually bringing joy to the hospital. At one of her hospital stays, Zoe organized a Harry Potter-themed drawing contest and involved all the doctors and nurses. She is recognized at the hospital for her yellow hat with ears, and of course, her huge smile.
And because Zoe is such a huge Harry Potter fan, tomorrow I will share a fun post about how you can tell you’re a Harry Potter fan.
