The announcement today of the passing of A.M.A. founder, Eelke ‘Allen’ Monsma brought great sadness as members of Team #HoldOnPleaseEmily begin preparing for the virtual Brain Tumour Walk, scheduled for June 27th.
Allen, at age 87, passed peacefully, surrounded by family and his acts of kindness would always be remembered. He was a horticulture industry pioneer who follows his lifelong motto, “Go slowly, but with all your strength.”
Al’s Flower Pouch by A.M.A. was the first-ever hashtag sponsor for Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada‘s Brain Tumour Walk. Thanks to the kind members of A.M.A., Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada has a new avenue of raising funds and awareness when their annual fundraiser walk turned virtual in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions.
This is a heartbreaking loss, but our thoughts are with all members of A.M.A. and the Monsma family. To see the spread to honour Allen in my digital magazine, check out the July edition of ‘Hold On.’ If you haven’t signed up yet, click here.
