Scientist have discovered a “deadpool” at the bottom of the Red Sea that kills almost every creature that swims into it. That’s creepy and cool all at the same time. Located 1.1 miles beneath the ocean’s surface, this pool is devoid of oxygen and filled with high-concentration salt solution that is proven to be deadly. Some predators actually taken advantage of this deadly section of the Red Sea by lurking nearby to feed on the unlucky creatures that inadvertently swim into the brine to hunt.
There are actually a few dozen brine pools in the Red Sea that are similar and found in the Mediterranean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. However, what makes this one I’m referring to so interesting is how close it is to land.
Science is always so fascinating.
