Graduation

June always is a special time of the year with ‘Pomp and Circumstance‘ playing as many graduates walk into the auditorium of their schools for their commencement ceremonies.

I still remember my grade 8 graduation fondly, as I was named Valedictorian of my graduating class. My family proudly watched from the audience as I delivered my very first motivational speech to a crowd of parents, teachers, staff, and fellow graduates. There were just under 300 in the crowd.

Although I was nervous, I kept reminding myself about my brother’s wise words before stepping out onto the stage: “Whatever you do, don’t dare listen to all that junk about imagining everyone in their underwear. It’ll just make you giggle, cringe, or turn away from your audience. Just be you and you’ll be fine.” Clearly, my brother was wiser than me.

Whether you’re graduating from a milestone grade or just moving up along the ladder, congratulations to all the 2021 graduates.
