Today, I was invited to my final ‘Author Talk’ for the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) this school year. I had the pleasure to speak to Ms. McLaughlin’s grade 8 class.
This session, I focused on change and how success comes from us being open to change. I also shared some examples of how I changed to make ‘Hold on please, Emily‘ possible. The goal was to encourage students to be receptive to constructive criticism and to be willing to make changes to your work or yourself to see long-term gains. This is an important life lesson as they continue to grow and receive more opportunities throughout their life.
Ms. McLaughlin left some feedback regarding my presentation: “Your presentation is truly inspirational. Our students are moved to become fearless leaders in the future. They feel encouraged to tackle any challenges and obstacles ahead. Thank you for providing us with wonderful opportunities for growth and being there to support us along our journey through life.”
I have one last ‘Author Talk‘ before the end of the 2020-2021 school year, coming on Monday for the York Region District School Board (YRDSB). I’m quite excited for this one because I’ll be talking to a younger audience. Stay tuned for news about my last ‘Author Talk‘ this school year.
