#HoldOnPleaseEmily Campaign
Be a Part of Team H.O.P.E.
Doris Siu, bestselling author of Hold on please, Emily, is a cancer advocate who is passionate about bringing HOPE to the brain tumour community.
The #HoldOnPleaseEmily Campaign is an awareness and fundraising campaign in support of Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. After all, the acronym for the team name spells H.O.P.E.
Doris’s mission is to use her creative skills in writing to produce different mediums (like books, songs, and videos) to empower, educate, and inspire.
In honour of Brain Tumour Awareness Month in Canada, Doris helped to #TurnMayGrey in 2021 with the release of Hold on please, Emily on May 1st.
Hold on please, Emily is an inspirational story about a 17-year-old musician, Emily McGregor, who has aspirations of being accepted to the top music school in Paris. As we walk through Emily’s journey, we discover the realities of living with a brain tumour and become inspired to never give up despite all the uncertainties. Accompanying this novel is a soundtrack called Hold on please, Emily: Songs of Hope, created by Doris and Kromatix_. Books don’t typically have soundtracks, but this one does! To learn more about Doris’s music, click here.
What is Team #HoldOnPleaseEmily?
We are HOPE
Team #HoldOnPleaseEmily is made up of anyone believes in Doris’s mission of spreading hope across the world. This includes supporter of Doris’s writing and music, as well as friends and family.
What makes Team #HoldOnPleaseEmily unique is that it’s made up of people not just locally here in Toronto, but also worldwide. We have members from across USA, Europe, Asia, and even Australia. Together, we hope to inspire everyone to never give up while raising awareness for both brain tumours and cancer in general.
Our team is captained by Doris and Kromatix_ ― two creatives from different worlds (literature and music) with an united goal of inspiring hope worldwide. Doris hopes to continue producing content that merges both literature and music creatively together. Her first project to successfully do this was her debut novel, Hold on please, Emily, which the campaign is named after.

Brain Tumour Walk 2021
#BrainTumourWalk #EndBrainTumours
On June 27th, Team #HoldOnPleaseEmily participated in their very first Brain Tumour Walk in support of Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
This year’s event was virtual and we were one of 475 teams across Canada walking to #EndBrainTumours. Our team fundraised a total of $651.42 and Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada raised over $1.45 million from the national event.
On Walk Day, Al’s flower pouch by A.M.A. Horticulture Inc. supported the Brain Tumour Walk through a sponsored hashtag. A donation of 27 cents went directly to the foundation each time someone posted on social media with #BrainTumourWalk on June 27th. Check out Doris’s Instagram posts for Walk Day to read all about the event. Also, don’t forget to watch the awareness video Kromatix_ created to showcase our team.

There’s so much that is unknown about brain tumours, and the impact lasts a lifetime. Every day, 27 Canadians are diagnosed with a brain tumour. Globally, more than 500 cases are diagnosed daily. June 8th is World Brain Tumour Day ― a day to commemorate all brain tumour patients and their families. Although there are important dates throughout the year to pay tribute and raise awareness, our support should be something constant.
Be a part of a team that wants to make a difference by being the voice and the light for those who need our support and strength to fight. No one is ever alone in this journey. Team #HoldOnPleaseEmily is here to help. Support our campaign, so that together we can #EndBrainTumours and find a cure for cancer.
