“Welcome to Wonderland” by Anson Seabra is a song I wished I had as a child. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is an 1865 English novel by Lewis Carroll, which shares a story about a young girl named Alice who falls through a rabbit hole into a fantasy world. I loved this story as a child and the way they developed Alice’s character as she embarked on her magical adventure. When I discovered this song, I was instantly pulled into my own ‘rabbit hole’ of memories, reminiscing about classic childhood stories I adored as a child.
If you’re an Alice in Wonderland fan, I encourage you to listen carefully to the lyrics. When you do, you’ll realize that this song beautifully summarizes the magic of the whole story. Everything from the Cheshire cat to the house of cards, while emphasizing the curiosity of what’s real and what’s our dreams. I love it when songs tug on the concept of dream and reality.
The lyrics that really caught my attention was “dancing, to a dream, underneath the stars / laughing ’til the morning comes.” When I hear these lines, I visualize a young girl twirling under the stars until sunrise. What a glorious sight indeed.
